Mizu Replaces Julian_Muscat In the Main Competition

Following yesterday's announcement that Julian_Muscat was suspended from this year's edition, we can reveal that Michael Owen 'Mizu' Micallef will be taking his spot.

During the Offline Qualifier the players were warned that should someone be suspended from EA or commit any irregularities that go against the tournament's code of conduct they will be replaced by:

1. Their opponent in the 6th round (if he/she wasn't qualified);
2. The player placing 12th at the end of the tournament. (if their opponent was already qualified).

During the 6th round of the Offline Qualifier, the remaining players who still had yet to qualify were standing at a record of 3 wins - 2 losses. Julian_Muscat was up against Mizu with a spot in the Main Competition still up for grabs. After an intense series, the score stood at a tie of 5 - 5 with each player grabbing a 3 - 2 win. Mizu failed at the last hurdle and got eliminated by a penalty shoot out given that both players still didn't manage to score any goals during extra time.

Mizu was one of the 14 players who took part in last year's edition, finishing in 6th place representing Floriana FC. Here is what Mizu had to say after we informed him that he will be taking Julian_Muscat's spot.

After making two big comebacks in a row in the Offline Qualifier I was very unlucky to be knocked out on penalties and I was really disappointed with my performance since I know I could have done much better. I'm very pleased to be given the opportunity to take part in the Main Competition and will now work harder to prove myself that I belong in the competition and that I'm one of the best players on the island.
