Thursday 12th March 2020, 07:36 | written by: Kurt Bonnici

Match Day 5 of the BOV ePremier League had some well fought ties.

Here’s how the featured matches went down Thursday evening.

Gudja win the battle at the bottom!

Sirens FC vs Gudja United (RudyFifaPlayer vs Haller10)

Leg 1: 1-2
Leg 2: 1-5

Gudja kept it late in the first match of this tie but manage to seal all the 3 points at the end of this fixture. Rudy found the back of the net in the 23rd minute through a well worked R9 goal. The match remained a cagey affair throughout and it wasn’t until the 83rd minute when Cruijff got things back level. As the match came nearing its end, R9 popped up at the death to get Gudja the win.

The second match had Gudja all guns blazing, showing Sirens how it’s done and why he does not deserve the last place on the leaderboard! R9 made the score 1-0 in the 1st Half and looked like another tense encounter but Gullitt had other plans making the score 2-0 in the 57th minute. Rudy’s Gullitt replied to make it 2-1 but goals from Cruijff, R9 and Neymar sealed the fate for Sirens.

Points shared in the 3rd place tie!

Hibernians FC vs Balzan FC (Dunstan12 vs isaackylegrima)

Leg 1: 1-2
Leg 2: 2-0

The highlight match of the day was definitely worth the watch as both Hibs and Balzan were level on points, occupying 3rd spot before this encounter. Wins in fixtures would have seen one of them almost guarantee that spot for good.
Balzan were on fine form and a super R9 goal in the 15th minute got things off to a flyer. Both teams battled to find the 2nd goal but it was through another great goal that Balzan found it through R9 once again! Hibernians did manage to score a consolation goal at the death but Balzan got the first 3 points of the night.

Dunstan made sure that he will not be beaten once more and locked position and his Mane and Messi were on hand to give him the deserved 2-0 win.

Mosta regain some confidence

Mosta FC vs Valletta FC (lukebartolofifa vs Txrbulense)

Leg 1: 1-0
Leg 2: 0-2

It was a tricky tie for Luke who has only disappointed in this league phase, being one of the early contenders before the competition kicked off. Txrbulence, on the other hand, getting some well needed experience on the PS4 from his usual XBOX console.

Both players defended well throughout the first fixture and it had to be a moment of pure brilliance to break the deadlock and it was on the Blue side of the stadium, where it was R9 who unleashed a powerful shot in the 72nd minute to gift Mosta their first 3 points of the day.

Valletta as per the usual routine fought back in the 2nd round to make sure that he got some well needed points in the leader board and get a better position throughout. R9 once again clinical on the night with a decent strike in the 34th minute to go to the interval leading. Mosta tried to bounce back but it was Txrbulense who made the score 2-0 with a Cruijff goal at the end.

Last Minute Goal Separates it!

Hamrun FC vs Balzan FC (brandsha vs isaackylegrima)

Leg 1: 1-1
Leg 2: 1-0

Hamrun fresh off a 4-1 victory vs Floriana, were feeling confident heading into this match to keep the pressure on Santa Lucia at the top.

R9 opened matters after some good one touch football with Cruijff in the 22nd minute after an intense start to the half. Isaac took it upon himself to level matters quickly and after some phenomenal possession play and a couple of posts, he did so in the 37th minute through his own version of Johann Cruijff. Both sides took their time in the 2nd half to test the water but none of which found the back of the net with the match ending 1-1. 2 important points dropped for Hamrun.

The man of last minute goals “Brandsha” does it again! His 4th fixture in the tournament where he got some points on the table using the last kick of the match. Phenomenally worked out action dropped to the foot of the Dutch Johann Cruijff to bury it home and condemning Balzan to a sour taste afterwards.

Chrismeister888 shows his capabilities again!

Floriana FC vs Santa Lucia FC (Mizu vs Chrismeister888)

Leg 1: 1-3
Leg 2: 0-2

Time passes by and we still call Chrismeister888 unbeaten and Mizu was not able to change that in these 2 fixtures as Chris got both wins after an early scare in the first match as Mbappe took the lead for Floriana after a mesmerising run.

Santa Lucia quickly stopped the party and started to run the show themselves after an R9 leveller in the 11th minute and a CR7 goal in the 27th to lead at the break. Another day at the office for Chrismeister888’s R9 as he bagged another brace in the 75 minute to end the match there and then.

2nd fixture did not disappoint as it was an entertaining fixture but the defensive masterclass from Christian was once again on show with another clean sheet for Santa Lucia. He found another hero for the 2nd fixture as Johann Cruijff scored twice to remain unbeaten.

Action after Action after Action…

Valletta FC vs Hibernians FC (Txrbulence vs Dunstan12)

Leg 1: 2-2
Leg 2: 1-1

One thing was sure in this fixture, that both of the players love to play offensive football without a care in the world for their defence. End to end play throughout made it an enjoyable match for fans to witness.

Sadio Mane made sure Hibernians were first on the scoreboard in the 27th minute after a farcical goal which will definitely make it into our bloopers of the tournament. Valletta fixed both his camera and play style to find a way back in the match through R9 in the 37th minute. R9 made it two for Valletta through a stunning turn and finish in the 70th. CR7 made sure things ended as they started with the scores tied as he got on the scoresheet in the 88th minute after a tidy move down the flank.

Second match was an emotional affair but it was an early Messi goal for Hibs and a late De Jong goal for Valletta which decided the encounter in the end with both sides taking home two points.
