Malta BOV ePremier League Group A Recap - Balzan Steals the Group

Our predictions for this group focused on the story of a veteran, Gianluca "Turbulense" Sant against the championing rookie of Owen "Owen Galea" Galea. We also predicted that we couldn't wait to be surprised - and without question, we were.

Accordingly, the likes of Miguel "Migi" Grima showed up in a huge way to give Balzan FC first place in Group A. Starting off low due to a loss against Hibernians FC, he came back swinging with a massive 7-3 win over one of the favourites, Owen "Owen Galea" Galea representing Floriana FC.

And then, thanks to a head-to-head victory against Santa Lucia FC, who also managed to secure two victories, Balzan FC earned a massive win in a gruelling 2-1 scoreline. Specifically, this was their only loss in the Group after handling Floriana FC and Hibernians FC.

Representing Santa Lucia FC, Gianluca "Turbulense" Sant proved his worth in these matches, with his experience shining through. Even in the close loss to Balzan FC to close out the matches, his performance was fantastic to say the least.

Moving further down to third and fourth place, another stalemate took place.

Once again, lighting a fire under the Floriana FC and Hibernians FC rivalry, it boiled down to the final match. With Hibernians having upset Balzan FC earlier on, this was their chance to reach second place. Meanwhile, Floriana FC hadn't yet won in the Group yet.

Just like that, we had a battle for third place. with Glenn “GCAMBEAMZ-“ Camilleri on one side and Owen "Owen Galea” Galea on the other.

Through a high scoring game going back and forth, Floriana FC managed to edge out Hibernians and take third place thanks to head-to-head wins. Sitting at 3 points, they're well-positioned to be one of the third-placed teams moving on to the Knockout Stage.

Overall, the fact that the competition boiled down to the final games is proof of the level of skill at the Main Event - there are no easy matches at this point in the competition. We just can't wait for the upcoming Groups.
